Pedestrian crossings in the city will remember with the motto Live, walk, breathe Granada the benefits of traveling on foot in improving the quality of the air in the city and in citizens health.

The City Council of Granada launches an awareness campaign that, through the installation of the motto Live, walk, breathe Granada in the pedestrian crossings of the Center, where more influx is concentrated people, encourages citizens to travel around the city on foot as a more sustainable, healthy and environmentally friendly means of transport.

This is, in the words of the Councilor for Mobility at the Granada City Council, Raquel Ruz, one more measure of the plan Granada breathes launched by the City Council of Granada to improve the quality of the air in the city, for which it has appealed to the individual responsibility of each citizen in the battle to ensure that we can breathe better quality air, he said.

Live Walk Breathe Granada

In this sense, Raquel Ruz has insisted that Granada, due to its beauty and its orography, invites to be walked, to enjoy its space, for which reason she has recommended that in case of that it is not possible to walk, the citizen resorts to sustainable and environmentally friendly means of transport that improve air quality, among which he has mentioned public transport or individual mobility vehicles such as bicycles.

Pedestrians will come across the motto Live, walk, breathe Granada at the crosswalks of different city streets, among which are: Plaza Humilladero with Carrera de la Virgen; Gran Vía with Sagrado Corazón and Zacatín street; in Acera del Darro, in four pedestrian crossings, specifically those located in the shopping center, in the access to the public car park, in Puerta Real and in Ganivet street; Reyes Católicos with Plaza del Carmen; Pavaneras street with Isabel la Católica square, and in Recogidas with Puerta Real and Alhóndiga.

In this sense, Ruz Peis highlighted the firm and clear commitment of the Granada City Council to recover the citys public spaces for the use and enjoyment of pedestrians, with measures such as the one we are presenting today with which we invite citizens to experience their city and make Granada more friendly, accessible, healthy and respectful of the environment.

Live Walk Breathe Granada

Ruz Peis recalled, within the municipal governments strategy aimed at improving air quality, the recovery of the celebration of the Day without a car, whose last edition, which took place last Sunday, February 20, had 28 participating organizations and associations, the largest number ever achieved -he pointed out, in which 5,000 people gathered .

In short, the influx of citizens to this type of activity, which is becoming more and more popular, makes us all aware of the importance of taking care of our air, our city, and of walking and enjoying the city in which we all live, has concluded.
